FAQs
-
DISCIPLESHIP-COUNSELING is an alternative to traditional counseling methods. It encourages 1-on-1 or small-group interaction that uses the Bible and the indwelling Holy Spirit as the primary sources for solving and working through spiritual, relational, mental, emotional, and behavioral challenges. The Xchange is informed by psychology as a tool, but uses the BIBLE to diagnose and determine action steps to overcome a struggle.
The focus of all DISCIPLESHIP-COUNSELING is discovering and developing your identity IN-CHRIST. -
No, and I have no plans to become licensed. I was on that licensing path, but the CACREP standards, along with the state of Minnesota, left me bewildered regarding the value of letting non-Biblical standards and methods shape my soul. This is a personal choice and conviction, and my judgment is on a system of thought, not on the valuable therapists who seek to help people in their mental health.
-
No, we do not, and I do not see this changing in the future, due to the regulations of the State of Minnesota and the CACREP standards of licensed therapy and counseling services. I have chosen not to get licensed so that my focus can remain on the Bible with a spiritual emphasis. It is a complicated issue with no judgment on Christian counselors and therapists who choose the licensing route.

I am open to a variety of meeting locations. In general, there will be two pay rates. If you come to North Branch, the fee will be lower, as I will add an additional fee for traveling to your location.
As we meet, I would like to follow these guidelines:
1) If the client is of middle school age, a parent or guardian is necessary to begin the process, and we will evaluate how to proceed following a few meetings together.
2) If the client is female, we will meet in a location where the client and I are not alone but can maintain appropriate accountability for the safety and integrity of both parties involved.
3) Ultimately, I will accommodate to the best of my ability to create a safe, comfortable location in which we both agree.

Not at all. I am open to online meetings and can work with you to set that up at your scheduled time.
However, as a best practice, it is best to view online meetings as temporary or occasional rather than a replacement for face-to-face meetings.

Before we meet, I will have you fill out an intake form that will provide an overview of who you are and why you want to meet.
When we meet, we will pray, discuss a topic related to identity, life, or God, and how it affects daily choices. At the end, we will review action steps for our next meeting.
You will most likely have a small to large amount of homework depending on your situation.
Book an appointment.
Are you ready to get clarity and move forward in your identity “in Christ?”
Let’s meet together to talk and process what life looks like when Jesus defines you!
